The Whitney Brownies

Combine:
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 t. vanilla
2 C. sugar

Combine and melt (in the micro on low heat or on the stove):
1/2 C. butter, or one stick
1/2 C. shortening
4 sq. unsweetened chocolate

Allow melted chocolate to cool in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes until it is warm but no longer hot. Add cooled butter mixture to egg mixture, mix well.

Add:
1/2 t. salt
2 C. flour

Mix until blended, then pour/spread into a 13 x 9 pan with a greased bottom. Bake at 375' for 20-23 minutes.

*These brownies do really well with add-ins. Yesterday we did a cup of chocolate chips, but nuts and other chips work well too. This recipe yields a very dense, fudgy brownie with a crisp top.
